Our Contribution to Sustainability

Sustainability is enormously important to us. Especially in the hospitality industry, we have the power to actively contribute to CO2 reduction. Here is what we are doing so far:

Our goal by 2025: 
Highest level "Swisstainable III - leading"

Garden Park Zug AG has chosen to participate in the sustainability program "Swisstainable"* by Switzerland Tourism. We have already successfully completed the first of three steps towards the "Committed" level. This means that we officially commit to sustainability, have conducted a comprehensive sustainability check, and have taken corresponding sustainability measures. As the next step, we will refine the program with "ibex fairstay" to achieve the highest level, "Swisstainable III - leading."

*Swisstainable, Switzerland Tourism's sustainability program, is open to all companies and organizations in the Swiss tourism sector. In a time when guests looking for sustainable offerings often get lost in the maze of various certificates and labels, Swisstainable's main goal is to provide guests with more guidance.

CO2-neutral Heating and Cooling

We use energy and water resources sparingly and strive for constant optimisation. For example, we already heat and cool our buildings with almost no CO2 emissions by using lake water from Lake Zug. In addition, we use electric vehicles and bicycles whenever possible. We offer our employees and guests e-charging stations with exclusively green electricity.

Saving Water

We do not only attach importance to the responsible use of water for economic reasons. We reduce our water consumption in a targeted manner by fitting our showerheads with faucet aerators, using flow regulators and efficient dishwashers. In addition, we recommend that our guests opt for a reduced change of bed linen and towels. We collect rainwater for garden maintenance.

Buying Regionally

We attach great importance to sourcing regional ingredients from local producers, thus shortening travel distances, and supporting nearby agriculture.

Responsible Consumption

We are mindful to use biodegradable packaging made from rapidly renewable resources and recycled products wherever possible. Environmentally friendly and professional waste disposal is also a top priority in all our operations.

Coaching Employees

Whether in the kitchen, the service, or the office: our employees know how to actively contribute to climate protection through their daily work. We offer regular training programmes empowering our teams to stay on the forefront of climate conservation. We also provide in-house training in the art of communicating with guests from various cultures.
